Overall Responsibility
We seek an experienced automated speech recognition engineer to develop and refine speech-processing technologies for our language and culture training applications.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Develop and implement acoustic models for ASR engines such as Julius
- Develop and apply algorithms for evaluating and scoring the speech of language learners.
- Apply emerging methods for training acoustic models, e.g., deep neural networks.
- Help develop software tools for data gathering, data annotation, and component/model configuration management.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. or higher in Computer Science or related field
- 3+ years constructing and enhancing acoustic models
- Experience programming with scripting languages (shell scripts, Perl, Python)..
- Comfortable on UNIX/Linux command line
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Strong knowledge and experience with ASR engines such as HTK, Julius, Sphinx, Sonic that would be applied using JuliusJS in an HTML5 application
- History of working with Subversion or GIT
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with language learning applications
- Familiarity with pronunciation analysis algorithms (e.g., Goodness of Pronunciation)
- Knowledge of advanced Java or C++
